The 2017 Dungannon Christmas Parade and Holiday Festival will be held on Saturday, November 18. The theme for this year's event is "A Heavenly Christmas."
Get a head start on Christmas shopping from 11am to 3:30pm as crafts and food vendors will be set up inside Dungannon Intermediate School. Some of this year's vendors will be selling handcrafted jewelry items, scarves, lotions, candles, wreaths, primitive items, funnel cakes, apple pies and peanut butter candy. The Kids Fun Zone will include free admission to the inflatable bounce rides. Kids must be supervised by an adult. Dungannon Intermediate School will also have a bingo fundraiser in the cafeteria and will be selling food - hot dogs nachos and cheese, chips, cookies and drinks, Bingo games will start after the Santa Train.
The 75th annual Santa Train will pull into town around 12:03pm and then, at 2:30 pm, Santa and Mrs. Claus along with Elijah one of Santa's special elves will be at the school to greet children and hand out treat bags while supplies last. Dungannon United Methodist Church and Dungannon First Baptist Church will be handing out free cookies, coffee and hot cocoa at the train.
The Dungannon Christmas Parade will start at 5pm with participants lining up at 4:30 beside Black Diamond Market. The parade will begin at the corner of 6th Avenue and Hanging Rock Parkway, proceeding down Memorial Highway, turning right onto Monroe and will disband at the corner of Monroe Street and 4th Avenue. George and Peggy Hensley will serve as the parade's grand marshals.
Santa's Mailbox will be set up inside the school gym. Bring your letter to Santa and send it on the express journey to the North Pole. Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with the kid's name and Santa will write back!
